Ron Paul On Gun Control and Violence

Thomas_Jefferson_1856_Issue-5c.jpgImage via WikipediaThe strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.
-- Thomas Jefferson

Recent events have again brought this perennial discussion to the fore. These two insurgents (Jefferson and Paul) have reiterated their views. Please pay close attention also to the comment by Stewart Rhodes (founder of Oath Keepers) immediately following the article by Ron Paul. Owning a weapon (gun or otherwise) for one's protection ought to be a personal decision based on your belief system and level of trust in the authorities to provide such protection beforehand - the general denial of such rights is simply another form of tyranny.

On Gun Control and Violence

Tuesday, January 18, 2011 – by  Dr. Ron Paul

Dr. Ron Paul The terrible violence in Arizona last weekend prompted much national discussion on many issues. All Americans are united in their sympathies for the victims and their families. All wonder what could motivate such a horrible act. However, some have attempted to use this tragedy to discredit philosophical adversaries or score political points. This sort of opportunism is simply despicable.
