Peace, Propaganda, and The Promised Land
When Israelis in the occupied territories now claim that they have to defend themselves, they are defending themselves in the sense that any military occupier has to defend itself against the population they are crushing… You can’t defend yourself when you’re militarily occupying someone else’s land. It continues to be an amazing aspect of our make-up as human beings that the way a news story is covered has a profound impact on how we perceive it and to whom we attach our sympathies. Though long-cherished beliefs are difficult to let go of, hopefully by the end of this video you will have a more balanced understanding of the real reasons why this decades-long conflict remains unresolved today. The problem is not so much that peace will come - I have little doubt that this will happen in the near future. The real problem lies in the fact that such a peace will never be just (based on the unequal power of the parties involved) and so cannot be sustained over the long haul.

The article is quite pointed in its criticisms of this relationship which has proven deadly for all who find themselves on the wrong end of its gun-sights, and will in the end prove to be the bane of a powerful nation that still lays claim to any moral authority. Here is a brief excerpt from part of just one of the '29 Reasons': [The Israeli state treats Palestinians like bugs. After Israel's war on Gaza in 2009, an Israeli soldier said: "That's what is so nice, supposedly, about Gaza. You see a person on a road ... He doesn't have to be with a weapon. You don't have to identify him with anything. You can just shoot him."]
If you are one who believes that The Almighty has chosen your race apart from all others for salvation so that any violence toward others or co-opting their lands is okay, then my advice is not to waste your time here watching the video or reading the '29 Reasons'. If instead you are one who cherishes the mistaken belief that biblical references to a saved people who will be protected from on high were made in relation to a physical nation rather than to those who have accepted the redeeming sacrifice of the Savior in their hearts, then you too will likely not be capable of allowing the scales to fall from your eyes. However, if you are one of the few who have heeded the life-giving teachings of the Redeemer - especially regarding our dealings with our fellow man, you may perhaps begin to see a more balanced view than what gets reported in the mainstream media.
