Deep State Defiance: Kennedy Started, Trump To Continue?

Deep State Defiance: Kennedy Started, Trump To Continue?

“Behind the ostensible government sits enthroned an invisible government owing no allegiance and acknowledging no responsibility to the people.
To destroy this invisible government, to befoul the unholy alliance between corrupt business and corrupt politics is the first task of the statesmanship of the day.”
Theodore Roosevelt, 26th President of the United States, Theodore Roosevelt, Autobiography, 1913

“Since I entered politics, I have chiefly had men’s views confided to me privately. Some of the biggest men in the U.S., in the field of commerce and manufacture, are afraid of something. They know that there is a power somewhere so organized, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so complete, so pervasive, that they had better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it.
Woodrow Wilson, 28th President of the United States, The New Freedom, 1913

“The real truth of the matter is, as you and I know, that a financial element in the large centers has owned the government ever since the days of Andrew Jackson.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt, 32nd President of the United States, in a letter to Colonel Edward M House dated November 21, 1933, as quoted in F.D.R.: His Personal Letters, 1928-1945.

The very word “secrecy” is repugnant in a free and open society; and we are as a people inherently and historically opposed to secret societies, to secret oaths and to secret proceedings… For we are opposed around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy that relies primarily on covert means for expanding its sphere of influence – on infiltration instead of invasion, on subversion instead of elections, on intimidation instead of free choice, on guerrillas by night instead of armies by day. It is a system which has conscripted vast human and material resources into the building of a tightly knit, highly efficient machine that combines military, diplomatic, intelligence, economic, scientific and political operations. Its preparations are concealed, not published. Its mistakes are buried, not headlined. Its dissenters are silenced,
not praised. No expenditure is questioned, no rumor is printed, no secret is revealed.”
John F Kennedy, 35th President of the United States, from a speech delivered to the American Newspaper Publishers Association on April 27, 1961 and known as the “Secret Society” speech.

For at least the past hundred years (and likely a whole lot longer),
US presidents have grown used to following the dictates of the Deep State.
While Wilson & Roosevelt both campaigned promising to keep America out of war,
each ended up taking the country into world war within mere months of their re-election,
thus doing their bidding, despite both men acknowledging the existence of these powerful forces!

In his farewell address, 34th US president and 5-star general, Dwight Eisenhower
warned about a potential disaster of rising influence of the Military-Industrial Complex,
cautioning that: "Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing
of the huge industrial and military machinery of defence with our peaceful message and goals.".
I think it is a fair conclusion to draw that in today's war climate, such a disaster has indeed occurred!

The fact that Kennedy became a Deep State casualty via the military arm of the MIC
was suspected by former president Truman who, one month to the day after his assassination,
called for the CIA's operational duties to be terminated & its role to be solely intelligence gathering.

An ailing Johnson, realizing (after the phantom Tonkin incident) that the war lust
of the powerful Deep State had only been intensified with the Kennedy coup assassination,
decided against running for a 2nd term, even after the path had been cleared with Bobby's removal.

In 1960, then VP Nixon was put in charge of Operation 40 (set up by the CIA
to topple the Castro regime). Furious at JFK's failure to support the Bay of Pigs invasion,
they were given a lead role in his assassination, Nixon himself present in Dallas the day before.
But Nixon's failure to intensify the Cold War (starting to thaw relations with China) led to his being
targeted for removal, Watergate deliberately leaked by the CIA, leading to his resignation in disgrace!

Following through on his campaign promise to "clean the cowboy elements out of the CIA",
Carter first fired then Director George Bush - followed later by 800 of its "cowboy" operatives.
This made him persona non grata with the Deep State as the CIA was their key enforcement arm
and led to the October Surprise, Iranian Hostage Crisis: A Covert CIA Operation to Stall the Iranian Revolution & Spearhead the Political Demise of Jimmy Carter and insert Bush into the White House!

Of course, the real Deep State plan all along had been to use Reagan's popularity to first
win the White House, then remove him via the tried & tested method of a 'lone-nut assassin'.
When this failed thanks to an alert Secret Service agent who had not been brought into the loop,
Reagan and his VP engaged in harried negotiations... the former calling into play all his acting skills
during the remainder of his two terms, the latter wielding more real power than those preceding him!

Without going into the full details here, suffice it to say that, while Poppy Bush had only a
solitary term in the White House, he enjoyed the equivalent of three terms in the Oval Office.
However, due to the diabolical MENA CONNECTION, the head of the Deep State crime syndicate
enjoyed an unbroken connection to the most powerful office in the world, from the Clinton regime
through to Baby Bush, finally Obama (3 generations of CIA connections), before the Trump phenom!

For the blissfully ignorant MSM 'faithful' as well as the political 'useful idiots' (on either side),
this is the reason behind an unprecedented vitriol directed at every turn to the current occupier.
After staging a successful Coup d'état in November 1963 to insert their man into the White House,
these powerful forces have enjoyed an iron grip on who sits atop the world's most powerful 'throne',
with little interruption for 55 years until along came a barbarian who threatens to drain their swamp!

Fifty five years ago, an idealistic John F. Kennedy had been given the singular opportunity
to gaze into the eyes of a dangerous foe warned about by his predecessor... and seen pure evil!
He was naïve enough to think that 'they wouldn't dare' - they (not Oswald) did & he paid the price!
The question for the seasoned man of the world, the master negotiator who now sits in his place is:
Will he exhibit Kennedy's courage while ditching his naïveté & remove their choke hold on the USA?

Trump Scores, Breaks Generals’ 50-Year War Record

Brantley)
The mainstream media has attacked President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw U.S. troops from Syria as impulsive, blindsiding his own national security team. But detailed, published accounts of the policy process over the course of the year tell a very different story. They show that senior national security officials and self-interested institutions have been playing a complicated political game for months aimed at keeping Trump from wavering on our indefinite presence on the ground in Syria.
The entire episode thus represents a new variant of a familiar pattern dating back to Vietnam in which national security advisors put pressure on reluctant presidents to go along with existing or proposed military deployments in a war zone. The difference here is that Trump, by publicly choosing a different policy, has blown up their transparent schemes and offered the country a new course, one that does not involve a permanent war state.
The relationship between Trump and his national security team has been tense since the beginning of his administration. By mid-summer 2017, Defense Secretary James Mattis and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs General Joseph Dunford had become so alarmed at Trump’s negative responses to their briefings justifying global U.S. military deployments that they decided to do a formal briefing in “the tank,” used by the Joint Chiefs for meetings at the Pentagon.
But when Mattis and Dunford sang the praises of the “rules-based, international democratic order” that has “kept the peace for 70 years,” Trump simply shook his head in disbelief.
By the end of that year, however, Mattis, Dunford, and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo believed they’d succeeded in getting Trump to use U.S. troops not only to defeat Islamic State but to “stabilize” the entire northeast sector of Syria and balance Russian and Iranian-sponsored forces. Yet they ignored warning signs of Trump’s continuing displeasure with their vision of a more or less permanent American military presence in Syria.
In a March rally in Ohio ostensibly about health care reform, Trump suddenly blurted out, “We’re coming out of Syria, like, very soon. Let the other people take care of it now. Very soon—very soon we’re coming out.”
Then in early April 2018, Trump’s impatience with his advisors on Syria boiled over into a major confrontation at a National Security Council meeting, where he ordered them unequivocally to accept a fundamentally different Syria deployment policy.
Trump opened the meeting with his public stance that the United States must end its intervention in Syria and the Middle East more broadly. He argued repeatedly that the U.S. had gotten “nothing” for its efforts, according to an account published by the Associated Press based on interviews with administration officials who had been briefed on the meeting. When Dunford asked him to state exactly what he wanted, Trump answered that he favored an immediate withdrawal of U.S. forces and an end to the “stabilization” program in Syria.
Mattis responded that an immediate withdrawal from Syria was impossible to carry out responsibly, would risk the return of Islamic State, and would play into the hands of Russia, Iran, and Turkey, whose interests ran counter to those of the United States.
Trump reportedly then relented and said they have could five or six months to destroy the Islamic State. But he also made it clear that he did not want them to come back to him in October and say that they had been unable to defeat ISIS and had to remain in Syria. When his advisors reiterated that they didn’t think America could withdraw responsibly, Trump told them to “just get it done.”
Trump’s national security team had prepared carefully for the meeting in order to steer him away from an explicit timetable for withdrawal. They had brought papers that omitted any specific options for withdrawal timetables. Instead, as the detailed AP account shows, they framed the options as a binary choice—either an immediate pullout or an indefinite presence in order to ensure the complete and permanent defeat of Islamic State. The leave option was described as risking a return of ISIS and leaving a power vacuum for Russia and Iran to fill.
Such a binary strategy had worked in the past, according to administration sources. That would account for Trump’s long public silence on Syria during the early months of 2018 while then-secretary of state Rex Tillerson and Mattis were articulating detailed arguments for a long-term military commitment.
Another reason the approach had been so successful, however, was that Trump had made such a big issue out of Barack Obama giving the Pentagon a timetable for withdrawal from Afghanistan. As a result, he was hesitant to go public with a similar request for a Syria timetable. As CNN reported, a DoD official who had been briefed on the meeting “rejected that any sort of timeline was discussed.” Furthermore the official asserted that Mattis “was not asked to draw up withdrawal options….” Lieutenant General Kenneth McKenzie, the director of the Joint Chiefs, also told reporters, “the president has actually been very good in not giving us a specific timeline.”
Nevertheless, without referring to a timeline, the White House issued a short statement saying that the U.S. role in Syria was coming to a “rapid end.”
Mattis and Dunford were consciously exploiting Trump’s defensiveness about a timeline to press ahead with their own strategy unless and until Trump publicly called them on it. That is what finally happened some weeks after Trump’s six month deadline had passed. The claim by Trump advisors that they were taken by surprise was indeed disingenuous. What happened last week was that Trump followed up on the clear policy he had laid down in April.
The Syria withdrawal affair is a dramatic illustration of the fundamental quandary of the Trump presidency in regard to ending the state of permanent war that previous administrations created. Although a solid majority of Americans want to rein in U.S. military deployments in the Middle East and Africa, Trump’s national security team is committed to doing the opposite.
Trump is now well aware that it is virtually impossible to carry out the foreign policy that he wants without advisors who are committed to the same objective. That means that he must find people who have remained outside the system during the permanent war years while being highly critical of its whole ideology and culture. If he can fill key positions with truly dissident figures, the last two years of this term in office could decisively clip the wings of the bureaucrats and generals who have created the permanent war state we find ourselves in today.

Establishment Hysteria Over Syria Withdrawal: POTUS Overthrow Advocated

Establishment Hysteria Over Syria Withdrawal:
POTUS Overthrow Advocated

In his book, Extraordinary Popular Delusions & the Madness of Crowds,
19th century writer Charles Mackay astutely observed that:
“Men..... it has been well said, think in herds;
it will be seen that they go mad in herds,
while they only recover their senses
slowly... and one by one.”

It seems that the Western establishment have gone batshit crazy insofar as
the present occupier of the Oval Office & his Russian counterpart are concerned.
One can do no right, while everything the other does is inevitably viewed as aggression!
This past week has seen an absolutely amazing spectacle of left, right, & center prognosticators
joining forces to berate the decision to roll back the illegal occupation initiated by his predecessor!

This insanity is occurring against a backdrop of campaign promises to "end the stupid wars",
before initially going against his better judgment to ramp up troop numbers in Syria & Afghanistan
in deference to his generals advice to try to break the deadlock - it seems perpetual war is their goal!

Trump was elected not by Republicans per se, but a wide coalition opposed to 'politics as usual'.
His biggest mistake would be to kowtow to the ones who tried every trick in the book to subvert him.

My advice: Don't hold your breath waiting for DC swamp denizens to slowly come to their senses!!

(Pssst... Heads up: Three outstanding videos appear below... not to be missed!!)

Trump Pulls Fast One Pulling Out of Syria - Gold Goats 'n Guns

I’ve been hard on President Trump recently. He’s deserved it. But, his decision to announce without any prearranged warning a complete pullout of all U.S. forces in Syria is something I can unreservedly applaud.
Whether he actually goes through with it or not is another story.
But even just his tweaking the D.C. establishment on this issue is enough for at least a golf clap. Nothing unites D.C. like the start of a new war or the threat of ending an old one.
And apparently Trump blind-sided nearly everyone on this. From the our NATO allies like France and the U.K. to his outgoing Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, all of them found out when Trump took the bully pulpit and informed the world.
This is the guy we elected. This is Loki-like behavior, not the weak-kneed appeaser that we’ve seen since Helsinki, tweeting like a madman trapped in a cage of his own making.
So, keep doing this Don and you might earn some trust.
The reality is that Turkey and Russia now set the terms of what’s happening in Syria going forward. Trump just acknowledged the U.S.’s untenable policy there is over.
In my latest piece for Strategic Culture, written before Trump’s Syria announcement, I talk about this weekend’s events leading up to Trump’s surprise announcement.

If these things weren’t enough Turkish Prime Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said recently that Ankara was now willing to work with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad if he survives “democratic and credible” elections. This is rich coming from Turkey, but whatever.
The importance of this statement, however, cannot be overstated. Turkey was one of the major partners in the mission to destroy Syria. And now they have joined with Russia, Iran and China in negotiating the peace process.
They have gone from “Assad must go!” to “Assad can stay.” It is an admission that the US plan for balkanization of Syria will eventually fail and that their best bet is putting maximum pressure on the US to give up its regional plans.
Russia, of course, stands behind Turkey in this and themselves are now upping the costs on the US and the Israelis. Because, it is now Russian policy to assist Syrian Arab Army forces in proportional retaliation against Israeli aggression in Syrian territory, according to Elijah Magnier.
No longer will the Russians stand aside and allow Israel a free hand over bombing what it says are Hezbollah and Iranian targets within Syria. The SAA will now strike back with a proportional response.
An airport for an airport, as it were.

Trump just admitted that the Bolton/Dunford strategy of balkanizing Syria has failed and he’s done subsidizing it. Hopefully, this will lead to something better and a more coherent strategy to rescue U.S. foreign policy from the cesspit of neoconservativism Trump still deserves heaps of scorn for allowing to rule his administration.
But for now, I’m taking a ‘wait and see’ approach. So too, is Russian President Vladimir Putin. Trump had to put something concrete on the table.
I’ve always said that there will be no resolution to the situation in Syria until the U.S. takes responsibility for some of its actions there and makes a move towards de-escalating it.
The U.S. had to act first. So, declare victory and get out of there.
Trump’s track record of threatening, sanctioning, insulting and bullying has put him in a very bad place to negotiate the U.S.’s withdrawal from Central Asia. There is no reason why anyone should sign an agreement with him or believe a word that comes out of his mouth or that of his staff.
So, the two years he’s been in office have seen an administration with few cards to play throw them down on the table for all the world to see and still try to bluff their way to winning the pot.
It’s all so unbelievably amateurish and sad.
The best move here is to stop the bleeding, end the destruction of what’s left of U.S. foreign policy credibility and bring the troops home before the next financial crisis leaves them even more vulnerable than they were before.
I’ve always argued that we wouldn’t have WWIII with the Russians over Syria or Ukraine unless a massive mistake was made. Trump’s staff maneuvered him into a position where the probabilities of that mistake happening rose to an unacceptable level which culminated in the downing of that IL-20 reconnaissance plane over Syria.
Putin took control of the situation there and Erdogan used the gift handed to him by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman perfectly. Now, Trump is talking about handing over Cleric Fetullah Gulen as well as a Syria withdrawal.
On this point I agree with Bernard at Moon of Alabama that Trump decided to choose keeping Turkey in NATO rather than allowing it to jump to the alliance of China, Russia and Iran formally.
And it looks like he finally had enough of trying to appease his generals who have been bleeding him dry since he took office.

Woodrow Wilson Goes to Europe: One Hundred Years of Delusional American Madness

We are now in the dubious position of “celebrating” – if that is the word – the 100th anniversary of US President Woodrow Wilson’s departure on December 4, 1918 on the liner SS George Washington for the Versailles Peace Conference where he was confident he would dictate his brilliant solutions that would end war in the world for all time.
Historians and psychiatrists – including Dr. Sigmund Freud himself who co-authored a book on Wilson – have endlessly debated whether Wilson was sane and just deluded or raving mad. Freud clearly inclined to the latter view. And he had ample evidence to support him. What is most alarming is that, as Henry Kissinger – significantly not born an American at all – points out, all US presidents either share Wilson’s ridiculous messianic fantasies or feel they must pretend to.
During the supposed dark age of the Cold War from 1945 to 1989, the recognition that the Soviet Union was at least as militarily powerful as the United States imposed the disciplines of realism and restraint on US policymakers. But since the Berlin Wall came down, the Warsaw Pact was dissolved and the Soviet Union peacefully disassembled, that restraint has vanished.
Every US president since then really believes that the United States is unique in history and fated to remake the entire world in its own image. History is over, American triumph over the whole world is ensured. And since that globalist vision is inevitable, flawless, perfect and virtuous, it follows that every bombing campaign, every war, every imposition of economic sanctions, the toppling of every government and the destruction of every society that dares to disagree is divinely approved.
Half a century ago, I thought as an impressionable teenager back in my native Ireland that the fiasco of the Vietnam War was smashing forever that extraordinary American combination of innocence, arrogance and ignorance of trying to remake Southeast Asia in the image of Lyndon Baines Johnson’s fantasies of Texas.
I was of course wrong: The tale of the 21st century has been a descent of successive, equally manic, ignorant and crazed US presidents into one needless, wretched, nation-smashing bungle after another.
The unimaginably ignorant and stupid George W. Bush – also from Texas – went charging into Iraq and Afghanistan, unleashing a new cycle of endless wars.
In late 2008, I attended a diplomatic dinner at the State Department to launch then Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice’s pride and joy – yet another Israeli-Palestinian “peace initiative” that everyone knew had not the slightest chance of getting anywhere.
Every veteran US, Arab, European and Israeli diplomat who attended the dinner recognized this. Yet all of them politely pretended to be impressed and enthusiastic while Rice, who clearly believed every absurd word she uttered, gave her presentation. In her childish enthusiasm she seemed to be more like a teenage cheerleader at American college football games. She had not the slightest doubt that she would succeed in a few weeks where generations and even centuries of diplomats and leaders from all over the world had failed. How American!
Barack Obama was cut from the same mold. He was farcically offered – and typically accepted – the Nobel Peace Prize after only one year in office and just compounded the damage.
Obama casually approved the destabilization and destruction of Ukraine, the collapse of US-Russia superpower relations to levels unimagined since the Cuban Missile Crisis and the destruction of Libya, Syria and Yemen. He even blithely approved an unprecedented $1.5 trillion nuclear weapons expansion program guaranteeing a ruinous arms race for decades to come. Yet he really believed he was a great force for peace. The bubble of his vanity and complacent self-regard was as impenetrable as Woodrow Wilson’s.

MY CORNER by Boyd Cathey

My intention this morning was to begin a short series on what the Holy Feast of Christmas means, and must mean, for us…and I still intend to write about that. But a couple of very good friends, one of whom is a neighbor who stopped me in the local Food Lion the other days, have inquired about the recent decision by President Trump to pull our 2,200 troops out of the cauldron of the Syrian “civil war” (AKA, terrorist rebellion): could I offer some additional information and background on what just happened. I told my friend that I had written an installment in this series that very day, December 21, for MY CORNER: https://boydcatheyreviewofbooks.blogspot.com/2018/12/december-21-2018-my-corner-by-boyd.html

In that column I made reference to five other installments which went into some detail on the background of the Syrian civil war…and why we should never have been there. But the idea of providing a short, accessible summary about what just happened this past week kept popping up as something that might be very useful to my friends and readers.

So this morning, without a lot of my commentary I want to pass on several items that I think will place what just happened into some context and perhaps give you ample background to begin to understand what President Trump did.  And, hopefully will offer perspective on why the near totality of the Foreign Policy Establishment, and the political Deep State elites in Washington—All Democrats and most Republicans in Congress (and on Fox News)—are beside themselves, upset, angry that our president is fulfilling his promise regarding Syria, and even calling for a “military coup against the president” [why, I ask, aren’t such pundits being arrested for proposing treason?].

Various politicians---from Republicans like uber-globalist Senators Lindsey Graham and Ben Sasse, plus oodles of Democrats, ALL UNITED [what does THAT tell you about the globalist nature of the Deep State cliques who not only control the US of A, but wish to control the rest of the world as well?]—have harshly condemned President Trump for his Syria decision, and even more so for the fact his Secretary of Defense General James Mattis has resigned.  Mattis, too, like the globalists in Washington—now twenty-six years after the fall of world Communism—wanted to continue to send American boys to die in foreign civil wars in jungles and deserts where we have no business being, so that the fruits of American egalitarianism and (pseudo) democracy could be inflicted on those downtrodden states….not to mention expanding control of the American financial global elites who would control their economies, their oil, and just about everything else…oh, yes, all in the name of “democracy.”

Why, just think of all the benefits we could inflict, say, on Syria: transgendered Mullahs, same sex bathrooms replacing Shar’ia law in those madrassa Islamic centers of learning, free abortions for those downtrodden Muslim women, wonderful commercials everywhere on Syrian TV for Viagra and Preparation-H, with same sex partners showing them all how it is done, and “democratic” elections with maybe Karl Rove parachuted in to instruct them how to manipulate votes. Maybe we could even encourage a few million Mexicans to move there to bolster whichever side the new “Demo-Republicrat” globalist alliance supports? And, why not get George Soros involved, too, if he is not already involved?

Is this not, in sum, what we’ve been fighting for? Not so much against ISIS (the Syrian government of Bashar al-Assad and the Russians have done almost all the fighting and defeating of ISIS), but for one more desert outpost of “American democracy and equality”?

And that, in reality, is why everyone from the Establishment left to the Establishment “conservative movement” are all so upset, and why they now talk of…actually…a “military coup” against President Trump. The resignation of Mattis was just a pretext, the nail to hang their frenzied and putrid ideological hat on. And it is that same unrestrained fervor, that vicious anger still over the results of 2016, their resentment that “THAT MAN sits at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue,” that same Deep State lunacy that has even a few of them, get this, “contemplating suicide”! [Let me wish they carry through with that threat—the Dark Lord of Hell awaits them with open arms.]

So, here, first, is a brief account of those unleashed reactions from the devilish denizens of the Deep State: you must read these to begin to comprehend the quasi-religious madness these folks exhibit. And, once again, I ask: can there ever be any kind of “peace” with these votaries of the Dark Lord? Second, Andrew McCarthy responds to a vitriolic anti/Never-Trump piece by National Review’s David French. McCarthy is not ordinarily thought of as a staunch Trump loyalist and the magazine he writes for is and has been an outpost of Establishment Never-Trumpism, but he does make some good arguments about Syria, and why we should not be there and why we should get out.

Civil War 2.0: Politics Wins, Ordinary Americans Lose

August 10, 2018
Civil War 2.0: Politics Wins, Ordinary Americans Lose

In my view, America's Civil War 2.0 began in the mid-1960's
(about a century after the one featured in all the history books ended),
peaking initially when an extramarital affair became a basis for impeachment.
What brought Americans together (after the 2000 stolen election further divided them)
was the belief (since discredited) that they had been attacked by an external enemy on 9/11!

Less than two decades ago in Y2K, concepts like false flags or the Deep State
were either non-existent or seen as little more than deranged thoughts of tin-foil hatters.
The lid was barely kept on this boiling cauldron a decade ago, with the ensuing bankers bail-out
directed only to the too-big-to-jail and the subsequent tenous 'recovery' skating on ever-thinner ice.
When that surface inevitably breaks, the shivering winds of depression will likely lead to full-on War!

Last time around, it was the North that finally prevailed after a long & bloody battle.
This time, I believe it may well be the South (or its cultural 'values') which end up as 'winners'.
Whichever side wins, though, it is ordinary Americans & most importantly their freedom, that loses!

As the article below eloquently posits: "I’m telling you, any civil war taking shape in this country
today is a net loss for freedom.... no matter which side should prevail. I want no part of either side.
In my mind, these two factions are equally evil.". I wholeheartedly endorse the expressed sentiments!

America’s Burgeoning Civil War

Published: Thursday, August 9, 2018
Make no mistake about it: America is already engaged in its second civil war. The decades-old left-right, conservative-liberal, Democrat-Republican paradigm that had (before Donald Trump’s election) almost evaporated is back—with a vengeance. In fact, it has turned into a full-fledged war. And it doesn’t matter to a tinker’s dam which side wins this war: Constitutional government and the Natural rights of man are the losers.
Take your pick. Maxine Waters or Donald Trump, Sean Hannity or Chris Matthews: Both sides are destroying the principles of federalism, constitutionalism and Natural Law. For all intents and purposes these principles are already dead. The American experiment in republicanism is over. From now on it’s the survival of the strongest. Might makes right. Logic, reason and sensible debate are buried in the dustbin of history. America has entered the next Dark Ages. And, sadly, there are hardly any Reformation preachers left in America to lead the nation into the light of liberty.
By removing Alex Jones, Ron Paul’s Institute For Peace And Prosperity executive director Daniel McAdams and Antiwar.com editorial director Scott Horton from their outlets, Silicon Valley—complete with its poster establishments Facebook, Youtube, Spotify, etc.—have proven themselves to be nothing but Naziesque censors hell-bent on destroying public dissent. As Ron Paul rightly noted, “In an empire of lies the truth is treason.”
And lest conservatives whine about being the big, bad victims in this discussion, the Trumpites are as bad as the Clintonites. Neither group cares a flip about the Constitution, Bill of Rights or Natural Law. All either side wants is the POWER to have things done their way—freedom and liberty be damned.
A recent survey has discovered that nearly half of Republicans want to give President Trump the power to shut down whatever media outlets he chooses. According to The Daily Beast:
Freedom of the press may be guaranteed in the Constitution. But a plurality of Republicans want to give President Trump the authority to close down certain news outlets, according to a new public opinion survey conducted by Ipsos and provided exclusively to The Daily Beast.
The findings present a sobering picture for the fourth estate, with respondents showing diminished trust in the media and increased support for punitive measures against its members. They also illustrate the extent to which Trump’s anti-press drumbeat has shaped public opinion about the role the media plays in covering his administration.
All told, 43 percent of self-identified Republicans said that they believed “the president should have the authority to close news outlets engaged in bad behavior.” Only 36 percent disagreed with that statement.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is getting ugly FAST. And I think that is exactly what the power elite had in mind when they handed the victory to Donald Trump in 2016. They knew Trump would incite a civil war; in fact, they intended that Trump would incite a civil war.
This is not to put all of the blame on Trump. Not at all. The left is just as culpable. Both sides are playing the game (wittingly or unwittingly) as scripted by the gamemakers. Donald Trump’s rhetoric is as vitriolic as Maxine Waters’. And Maxine Waters’ rhetoric is as vitriolic as Donald Trump’s. Neither side knows how to reason. Neither side knows even a smidgen about the Constitution or Natural Law, much less decency and decorum. We are watching junkyard dogs have at each other. The problem is, both packs of dogs are chewing up the bones of liberty and constitutional government in the process.
Let me tell you folks straight out: Donald Trump is as much a usurper of constitutional government as Maxine Waters. The only difference is the brand of tyranny that you prefer.
Both Trump and Waters act like there are only two sides to this argument. They act like the whole country is divided between the fascists of the right and the socialists of the left. Not true! There are millions of Americans from a variety of backgrounds, theologies and philosophies that are sick and tired of BOTH SIDES. Count me as one of them.
It doesn’t matter that everyone agrees with me (or you). What matters is that everyone respects the Constitution, Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence and God’s Natural Law and is willing to grant to others the same Natural and civil rights as we assume for ourselves. Such a perspective is totally lost on both Donald Trump and Maxine Waters (and their ilk). And the result is a burgeoning civil war.
I’m telling you, any civil war taking shape in this country today is a net loss for freedom, no matter which side should prevail. I want no part of either side. In my mind, these two factions are equally evil.
No matter who would have won the election in 2016, the result would have been the same. Both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump were groomed to take America into a civil war. Make no mistake about it: The gamemakers who control both Trump and Clinton couldn’t care less about the left-right feud taking place on Main Street today. It is the Constitution, Bill of Rights and God’s Natural Law that are targeted for destruction. And neither Donald Trump nor Maxine Waters seem to have any regard, respect or reverence for any of those sacred principles.
Both gun owners and members of the black community have justifiable complaints. The Second Amendment has been in the crosshairs of would-be tyrants for years. And so has the Fourth Amendment in predominantly minority communities. The left is wrong to dismiss the attacks on the Second Amendment liberties of gun owners, and the right is wrong to dismiss the attacks on the Fourth Amendment liberties of blacks and other minorities. I’m telling you both sides have equal justification for complaint. “Right-wingers” are justified in complaining about the tyrannical tendencies of the FBI, ATF and BLM, and “left-wingers” are justified in complaining about the tyrannical tendencies of local police departments and sheriff’s offices.
Federal police agencies have been targeting “right-wing” groups for decades—without justification. This targeting has been done solely on the basis of political bias and propaganda from left-wing hate groups such as the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC). In truth, the FBI and SPLC have been political bed partners for almost forever. And conservative ranchers, gun owners, business owners, etc., have every right in the world to be incensed about it.
By the same token, people within the black community have every right to be angry at the way they have been abused and misused by local police agencies and prosecutors’ offices. On this subject, I totally support the efforts of Rand Paul and Bernie Sanders to overhaul the bail system in America’s criminal justice system. Upwards of 70% of people behind bars are there without being convicted of a crime. They are mostly poor people (of which a majority are black) who cannot afford bail. And so they sit behind bars awaiting trial while the wealthy walk the streets free as a bird for the same or even more serious offenses. The only difference is one person has money and the other one doesn’t. That’s NOT justice. Don’t tell me we need bigger jails. All that does is feed the Police State and further tax the taxpayers. What we need is more justice in the justice system. The bail system is a dinosaur that needs to be fossilized.
So far this year, local police departments and sheriff’s offices have killed more than 700 people. And about 24% of these victims were not even armed. Furthermore, about 61% of these victims were minorities. One cannot read the news on any given day without reading the stories of policemen killing people (mostly minorities) under extremely questionable circumstances. And almost never are these murderous policemen held accountable or brought to justice for their crimes. Quite frankly, I am tired of hearing so-called patriots talk about the “murder” of Lavoy Finicum while completely ignoring the murders of dozens, if not scores, of young black men every year by policemen all over America. The double standard is sickening!
This country is coming apart at the seams. And both Donald Trump and Maxine Waters (and their toadies) are equally culpable. The dichotomy is ubiquitous. Except the fact that the one thing that both liberals and conservatives and Republicans and Democrats come together on is WAR. (Maxine Waters, to her credit, has consistently voted against America’s unconstitutional wars.)
Mark my words: Donald Trump is in the process of taking America into war against Iran and Syria in the same way that G.W. Bush took America into war against Iraq and Afghanistan. (Oh, that’s right. Dual U.S.-Israeli citizen John Bolton is at the helm spearheading these wars in Trump’s administration just as he was in Bush’s administration, isn’t he? What a coincidence!) And Israel will be the match that Trump and Bolton will use to ignite these wars (in other words, more wars for Israel). And when Trump launches these wars, the vast majority of both Republicans and Democrats in Congress will support them. Watch and see.
The American people are being played, and the Constitution is being pulverized—by both sides of this political charade. And the growing civil war in this country has nothing to do with the principles of liberty or constitutional government and everything to do with globalist warmongers manipulating the left-right paradigm to destroy whatever vestiges of America’s Washington and Jeffersonian principles that yet remain.
P.S. I, again, urge readers to obtain the blockbuster new book by Christopher Bollyn entitled The War On Terror: The Plot To Rule The Middle East.
While Trump’s Republicans and Maxine Waters’ Democrats are playing this phony left-right game at home, both sides are right now planning to take America into its next war abroad. Bollyn’s new War On Terror book is the one book that dares to tell the truth about who is behind America’s perpetual “War on Terror” and why. This is the one book you need to read in 2018.
We are being played, folks, and Bollyn’s book reveals who the puppet masters are. I strongly urge readers to get Christopher Bollyn’s blockbuster new book The War On Terror: The Plot To Rule The Middle East. Order it here:

West's Triad Bitch Slaps Syria: Russia Ruins Plans

Sure, a few of those missiles launched last weekend did actually arrive at their intended destinations, but when the best that today's Western military tech can offer is a strike ratio of barely 30% (32/103), moreso against a country with 30-year old anti-missile tech (Russian air defenses weren't activated), then words like pin prick or even bitch slap seem somewhat more appropriate and even more so when many missiles were directed against abandoned (undefended) facilities & with zero human casualties!

Indeed, so worried were Western military heads about Russian retaliation, a result that would lead to a feared escalation which might quickly spiral out of control into a potentially nuclear confrontation, that they delayed the strike by 48 or 72 hours as feverish negotiations took place behind closed doors with their Russian counterparts in order to arrive at an acceptable list of targets - a list that was then passed on by the Russians to the Syrians, giving them the opportunity to reposition men and matériel! Unfortunately for the Western Triad, however, the heads-up allowed Assad's men the necessary time to position their aging missile defenses to intercept the incoming missiles - which, at an average cost of US$1.55M, will clearly result in some key defense contractors being more than happy to resupply!

So when the American president refers to the missile strikes as 'perfect', his actual meaning may have nothing to do with either the dismal strike rate or the lack of destruction of soldiers & military assets. Rather, it may be all about having achieved its real intended purpose, namely to provide a perception on the world stage of America & its allies standing up to 'Animal Assad', while maneuvering to avoid the very dangerous specter of escalation due to Russian retaliation, whilst still managing to save face! The strikes were also 'perfect' in terms of timing, in using the fake chemical attacks as an alibi --- launching them before the newly arrived OPCW team had been able to finish its work and prove the gas attacks a complete lie - thereby removing the very basis under which the strikes were carried out!

Perhaps the most telling aspect of Friday's fiasco is that the real mission that the missile strikes were merely cover for: to severely degrade Syria's air force by destroying its air bases, failed spectacularly! According to releases from the Russian military, 64 of the 71 missiles that targeted 6 Syrian air bases were shot down, while of the remaining 32 missiles targeting undefended facilities 7 were shot down. Note that, while the airstrips were defended with the most modern of the Syrian air defense systems (Pantsir 23/25 hits, Buk-M2 24/29), the targeted facilities were either undefended or had old systems. To cover for the disastrous failure (Russia's more advanced air defenses were not brought into play), the US generals turned to playing charades, claiming all 100+ missiles were aimed at just 3 facilities!

But, does it end here? Not fricking likely - while there are those within the Trump administration who falsely believe that Putin's response will be confined to 'whining to the UN', they are sorely mistaken! Putin will likely wait until the moment is right to launch the asymmetric response he often advocates. This may likely involve an attack on American proxy forces in the region, in a manner that degrades key ground assets (secret bases) whilst feigning ignorance about the existence of any secret facilities!

Make no mistake, the top military planners for both major powers know the real score... both what just happened in Syria & the superiority of Russian air defenses - you just won't hear the truth on TV! What took place last Friday was along the lines of a bitch slap, delivered by a Triad Gang in the West which did everything possible to avoid directly confronting the vastly more formidable Russian Bear. Their fears are well founded- the Bear's response will be no mere slap, more likely a knockout punch!

The missile strikes are likely the culmination of a failed mission - a secret plan by the West to link its proxy forces at al-Tanf with the 30,000 jihadists in Ghouta to reach Damascus and topple the regime. Russia's alertness shifted Syrian forces to foil the West's plan which would have seen Assad removed!

The Skripal incident was orchestrated to demonise Russia, thereby ensuring that coalition members would remain united. The bombing assaults in East Ghouta were so intense that an estimated 200 US special forces were eliminated, with a further 200 UK special forces captured, embarrassing the West!

For the time being, an uneasy sense of calm obtains. It should now be clear to Western powers that their proxy forces have failed & that any crossing of Russian 'red lines' can lead to a military debacle. A last-ditch attack may come (through turncoat Turkey?) later this year, possibly after the mid-terms!

By Elijah J. Magnier – @ejmalrai
Donald Trump has climbed down from the tree he climbed up a few days ago when he gathered a large military force and firepower similar to “operation desert storm” (but without ground forces).  “Plan A” consisted of a destructive attack on Syria to destroy its army, presidential palace, command and control bases, elite force, strategic military and ammunition warehouses, radar, defence systems and political leadership institutions.
Prior to the triple attack on Syria by the US – UK – France, intensive contacts were carried out by Russia and President Vladimir Putin himself – at around 04:00 am– to reduce the attack and go to a softer, less significant “Plan B”.
Russia, in its contact with several heads of state, rejected any hit that could cripple the Syrian Army and instructed the leadership in Damascus that the West would now think very carefully before radically changing the balance of power in the Levant.
But what is the real reason behind the US – UK – France’s attack? Is it the claim of the “chemical attack” on Duma? The Organisation for the prohibition of the chemical weapons is already in Damascus and its members visit Duma this Saturday to inspect the location where the claimed use of a chemical attack was alleged to have taken place. Why not wait for the results?
Sources in Damascus explain that the Syrian Army and its allies, supported by Russia, were carrying out a large attack on rural Idlib and had reached Abu al-Duhur airport when, all of a sudden, the military operation stopped. The entire spearhead force was moved to Ghouta. What happened?
Russia had informed the Syrian leadership of a large gathering of forces at Al-Tanf US-occupied military base on the Syrian-Iraqi borders, where tens of thousands of US proxies have received continuous military training. The Russians identified unusual military movements and understood that the US was preparing to push Syrian proxy forces to reach eastern Ghouta, linking itself with around 30,000 jihadists in Ghouta itself. This attack was planned to take place simultaneously with a diversion from Daraa, southern Syria, attacking south of Damascus so as to deceive the Syrian army and its allies into leaving smaller forces around the capital.

Syrian Research centre bombed by US/UK/France
The US plan – said the sources – consisted in supporting its proxies and the Ghouta jihadists to reach Damascus and take full control of it. But the shifting of the military operation from rural Idlib to Ghouta spoiled the US plan to impose on Russia an enforced stay in Lattakia and Tartous confined to a limited place, and to finally change the Syrian regime. This “genius’s plan” would have spoiled all Russia’s efforts deployed through almost three years of heavy involvement in the war in Syria, and would have given the US the upper hand , just at the moment when Moscow and the Syrian Army were about to end the war, with only few more pockets left to liberate.
Russia’s hit in Ghouta broke the US plan into pieces, and imposed the withdrawal of tens of thousands of militants from Ghouta along with their families, to the north of Syria. The capital is now much safer, with the remaining area south of Damascus occupied by Al-Qaeda and the “Islamic State” group (ISIS) in Yarmouk camp and al-Hajar al-Aswad.
Today Russia rendered the US – UK – France strike meaningless, both in respect of its content and its objectives. Russia was able to impose that US – UK – France carry out only a “limited attack” of little value, and with not much chance of altering the reality on the ground in Syria.
When Russia vowed to shoot down missiles fired at Syria, Trump answered: “Get ready Russia because they will be coming, nice, new and smart”. Russia, after the hit, replied: “We have used the old Soviet anti-Air defence system against these smart, new and very expensive missiles fired by the Americans”. Not only that, the US-UK air strikes hit objectives which Israel bombards almost on a regular basis. By showing the capability to stop two thirds – as declared by Russia – of the incoming missiles, Syria is taking it as a kind of “training with live ammunition against any future Israeli attack on Syrian territory”. Israel is very disappointed and seems not at all pleased with this end result.
Showing restrain and control, the US Secretary of Defence James Mattis – he who said “the Pentagon still has no independent evidence to confirm that there was a chemical weapons attack in Syria last week”-contested any wide scale attack on Syria that could have triggered a direct Russian involvement and deadly return of fire against US objectives. Mattis accepted “an honourable strike” to save his boss’s inexperienced face. In point of fact, the trio’s strike on Syria seems have boosted the Syrian Bashar al-Assad’s reputation: the population celebrated in the streets of Damascus,  and mocked the western attack on their country!
The trio avoided at all times direct provocation of Russia, circumvented Russian bases and operational theatres instead of overflying. Russia imposed its presence and provoked the US and French navy by carrying out a simulated air attack, to show its willingness to hit back. The Russian navy was positioned opposite the Lebanese coast to cover that angle and avoid blind spots.
Moscow managed to avoid a direct confrontation with Washington outside its territory: US military bases surround Syria (Israel, Jordan, al-Tanf, al-Hasaka, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrein, Iraq, Turkey). Russia remembers how Leonid Brezhnev fell into the CIA’s trap in 1979, supporting  the Mujahedeen six months prior to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan- trap.  Zbigniew Brzezinski said the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan was deliberately provoked by the US: “It was an excellent idea. It drew the Soviets into the Afghan war and we gave them Vietnam”. Putin has avoided the same US trap almost 40 years later.
What is the next step?
All eyes are directed on the northern city of Idlib controlled by al-Qaeda now that the fate of Damascus is secured. But why Idlib?
The situation in Yarmouk camp, south of Damascus, seems directly linked to that of Fua and Kfarya. During the Zabadani negotiation, it was agreed between al-Qaeda and Damascus’s allies to keep away from al-Yarmouk, in exchange for the two besieged cities in the north of Syria. However, Damascus is now pushing to clean the capital completely, attempting to persuade its allies to bypass previous commitments.
As far as Daraa and Quneitra in the south are concerned, it seems no one in Syria seems willing to provoke the US and Israel at this tense moment; this will maybe be left to the end. In al-Badiyah, the Syrian steppes, ISIS is totally surrounded and can only wait to be exterminated in the coming months.
Idlib remains despite the Turkish-Russian-Iranian economical and financial agreement. There is no doubt about the existence of strong differences of an economic nature between partners over Syria.
Turkish President Erdogan expressed his support and later satisfaction with the US strikes on Syria. Russia answered by asking him to deliver the city of Afrin to the Syrian government. Iran’s special envoy for Syrian affairs Ali Akbar Velayati overtly stated that the next objective is Idlib. Therefore, it is now feasible for Turkey to pull out of its dozen observation bases around Idlib, even as Russia pulled out of Afrin prior to the Turkish attack. And Russia expects Erdogan to cancel the previously agreed sale of the S-400 missiles any day.
Thus, the compass points to Idlib, Rastan, Jisr al-Shoughour and the Syrian Army forces gathering in rural Lattakia, ready to divide Idlib after liberating the many villages around it.
This will bring the world to the next “chemical attack” appointment in the next operational theatre of the Syrian army and its allies. Would the US stand by al-Qaeda? Why not? It has never really been a question of the use of chemical weapons, since the US holds the largest stockpile of chemical weapons worldwide: the real issue is the defeat of the US faced with the dominance of Russia over the Levant.

US Two-faced Syria Game Continues: Russia Losing Patience

US Two-faced Syria Game Continues: Russia Losing Patience

From the tone of their latest statements, it is now patently obvious that
Russia's patience with the US's obstructionist presence in Syria is wearing thin,
insisting that their "flirtation" with the terrorists is the "main obstacle" to eradicate ISIS!

Sowing the seeds of confusion seems to be a mainstay of US Middle-East policy.
On the one hand waging a pretend war against ISIS, whilst on the other providing support
in the form of logistics & weaponry, to frustrate & delay legitimate efforts at their eradication.

Though studiously unreported by the Western media, the BBC has now broken ranks,
revealing in a bombshell report that US & UK colluded to allow ISIS fighters to escape Raqqa.
More than 3,500 fighters were allowed free passage to Abu Kamal, US jets deploying flares to aid
their night-time progress, so as to thwart the Syrian army's efforts to recapture the key border town.
Included among them was a group headed toward France to carry out attacks in "a day of reckoning"!

According to neighboring Turkey, the US now has as many as 13 military bases in Syria.
Reports also indicate the presence of 4,000 or more troops, despite an official claim of only 500.
All this, despite the fact that the US very presence in Syria is illegal according to international law.

From here it does not require much imagination to see that the conflict could all too easily erupt
into a conflagration between 2 major powers - only one of which has a legal basis for its presence.
Against this backdrop, recent declarations by a top military official about open-ended plans to stay
to supposedly fight ISIS appear ominous- proving again the power of the military-industrial complex!

Rather than continuing to hinder the legitimate efforts to terminate ISIS presence in Syria,
the US coalition would do well to see the writing on the wall, simply pack up its bags and leave.
But if, as many suspect, the real purpose for being there is not 'as advertised', then watch out world!

Finally! - The BBC Outs U.S./ISIS Complicity in Syria

Even Western media can't keep a lid on U.S. assistance to ISIS
I know this will come as a shock to my regular readers, but the U.S. has been working with ISIS the entire time.  Previously the Russian Ministry of Defense released unequivocal evidence of our allowing ISIS to move through areas controlled by U.S/Kurdish SDF forces to avoid Syrian Arab Army confrontation.
Now, no less a news source than the BBC, itself a major member of the U.S. Department of Disinformation, is now openly reporting this and outing Secretary of Defense James Mattis’ lies about why we are still in Syria.  Of course, the BBC is whitewashing all of this and portrays it as some triumph of humanitarianism.
But, it isn’t. Allowing ISIS to roam freely was always the plan in Syria so that it could overthrow the Assad government.  Now that that operation has failed, Plan D is to remain in country to keep a toe-hold in the region.
Without them as the bogeyman how can the McCain-wing of the U.S. Deep State and the Pentagon continue to justify our presence there?  And the reason why we are there is to keep Iran and Russia from running the table.
But, newsflash, they already have.  So, leaving our troops there is, at this point, sour grapes with no upside for anyone.
Remember, we are there illegally.  Our original allies in this operation, Israel, Saudi Arabia and Turkey are all operating there illegally as well.
Turkey, led by Racep Tayyip Erdogan, is still trying to act like it’s playing both sides against each other, but they are in Syria without an official invite from President Bashar al-Assad to both clean up its former proxies in Idlib and keep the Afrin Kurds from taking advantage of the power vacuum.
And that’s the way Iran, Iraq and Turkey want it.  The Kurds will be put back into their bottle and the U.S. will eventually have to leave.  But, for now, we’re continuing to try to have it our way by trying to get Assad to step down in Damascus.
And that is not going to happen.

Geneva Two-Step

So, despite the propaganda which terms our involvement as saving Syrians from the evil Assad, quite the opposite is the truth.  We are there to continue sowing chaos and prevent peace from breaking out.
Russia is adding to the pressure by putting the diplomatic screws to the Pentagon and its mendacity concerning the end of the Syrian ‘Civil War,’ a war began by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and continued as policy now a year into the Trump administration.
Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has taken the diplomatic gloves off calling ISIS and other separatist forces “wards of the United States.” And they are the ones in the most danger.  Moreover, the Pentagon has given these ISIS fighters cover to leave under the Geneva Convention since they ‘surrendered.’
But, in many cases they ‘surrendered’ while leaving with their war materiel.
The deal involved allowing more than 4000 ISIS fighters to leave Raqqa, a city the U.S./Kurdish SDF forces leveled by the way, as a convoy. This is not the first time this has happened.  The Russians bombed a similar convoy that was allowed to leave the Tabqa Dam months before the supposed “Battle for Raqqa” was even engaged.
Again, to repeat, these ISIS fighters and their families left under U.S. cover of the Geneva Convention but did so with their weapons in hand.  That’s, by definition, not surrender.
The U.S. military is in Syria to provide tactical and strategic cover for ISIS for future operations (Iran?  Afghanistan?) while it and its Kurdish proxies build a myriad of military bases in Eastern Syria.  And then to make things worse the actual Battle for Raqqa was simply a controlled evacuation while the U.S. Air Force leveled the city to hinder its rebuilding.
It’s a proud day to be an American, let me tell you.
Why we’re doing this is to continue influencing the settlement process along the lines of Israeli desires. The problem is that the U.S. no longer has much, if any, diplomatic pull around the region.  And this comes right back to Putin’s masterful turning of Turkish President Erdogan towards Russia.
That Putin and Erdogan were all smiles after yesterday’s meeting tells you that Putin realizes the Kurds are no longer needed to contain Turkey.  Watch the statements that come from Russia in the near future.  They will stress the ‘territorial integrity of Syria.’
That’s code for, “the Kurds get to stay split across Iran, Iran and Syria.”  It is also code for, “Turkey works with us, now.”

The End of U.S. Diplomacy

So, when Gen. Mattis makes statements about our mission in Syria it is looked at as a cruel joke by foreign diplomats, much like Nikki Haley’s performance at the U.N.  This level of double-speak was the hallmark of the Obama administration.  It’s supposed to have no place in Trump’s.
The continued shrieking about evil Iran lurking behind every minute move in the Middle East is becoming as ridiculous sounding and contra-factual that the Democrats’ continued harping about Russiagate is.
The BBC filing the report that is has which attempts to make cooperating with ISIS palatable for a western audience suffering from an unending string of disgusting terrorist attacks on their homes, is the height of chutzpah.
You can’t demonize ISIS for four years, allow them to run amok in London, Lisbon, Paris and New York and then call the Russians animals for not following the Geneva Convention’s Rules on treatment of prisoners.  And then, after letting them go their merry way, TOW rockets in hand, say that we need to stay there to combat them in the future.
And yet, that’s exactly what we are doing.
Diplomacy rests on the ability to keep to one’s deals.  If you continually say one thing and do something else eventually no one will listen to a word you say.  The U.S. is in that place now in the Middle East, so short of invading the entire region and/or ‘turning it into a parking lot,’ there is little influence we can exert over what happens next, other than to leave our troops there, stranded and without clear operational purpose.
Mattis should know this is an unacceptable outcome and should be talking about withdrawal, not an open-ended commitment to further the interests of our own nightmares.
