Image via WikipediaThe Big Lie is a propaganda technique. The expression was coined by Adolf Hitler, when he dictated his 1925 book Mein Kampf, for a lie so "colossal" that no one would believe that someone "could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously." [source Wikipedia]
All this was inspired by the principle--which is quite true within itself--that in the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down - a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying. —Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf, vol. I, ch. X
It is important to note that Hitler came to power not via the barrel of a gun or by revolution, but through democratic means. Once in office however, he made full use of the prevailing conditions, including an ongoing depression and widespread complacency among the populace, as leverage to expand his governing powers until de facto dictatorship was achieved. Integral to his efforts was a deliberate campaign of terror hoax incidents, which included the Reichstag fire and the stagedPolish invasion leading ultimately to World War II. Hitler though, cannot claim ownership of this patent which has been around long before and also well after his brief sojourn: FAKE TERROR - THE ROAD TO DICTATORSHIP.
It can be said that he who controls an investigation controls the facts that emerge from it. Further, he who controls the facts controls the truth that is accepted of what transpired. In this way there is a heavy reliance for truth on whosoever conducts the investigation. Throughout history this has been the almost absolute domain of the government of the day. Thus it was that for several hundred years after proof emerged to the contrary, the belief remained widespread that the Earth was both flat and also the center of the Universe. Birthed in the latter part of the last century, the internet has come of age in the current one - it poses an tremendous challenge to those who may have a vested interest in preserving a set of beliefsthat may be at odds with reality.
Mark Twain is reputed to have once said: "The trouble with the world is not that people know too little, but that they know so many things that just ain't so." With that in mind, here is a list of incidents occurring in our recent history, which upon further examination in time may well be seen to be quite different from the official storyline: The 1995 Oklahoma City Bombing
TWA Flight 800
7/7 - London Bombings (Be sure to watch the video 7/7 Ripple Effect - a chilling conclusion)
"Naturally the common people don't want war: neither in Russia nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country." —Hermann Goering (Hitler's successor)
