Greed, pride and a sense of entitlement have led to the downfall of men and nations alike over time. Often by venturing past the point where victory is assured, they lose their grip on the coveted prize - then go on to witness the unraveling of their past gains in snatching defeat from the jaws of victory! In our time two nations stand apart from all the others in terms of a claimed birthright of superiority. One claims a divine birthright which allows them to see fellow humans as inferior beings whose sole purpose is to serve them! Another State - founded upon freedom and equality for everyone, long ago abandoned founding principles in favor of a quest for world domination claims moral exceptionalism. Both are supported by a third State which today harbors dreams of a long-past era as a world empire!
Blinded by their self-righteous and misguided views of superiority over other nations and cultures, it comes as no surprise that these three 'musketeers' find themselves in common cause against all who would stand in the way of their ambitions. It is perhaps even more surprising that many of those who claim to be beneficiaries by faith of the ransom sacrifice purchased for all mankind by the Redeemer would today count themselves as rabid supporters of those who view their fellow man as donkeys put on Earth to serve them - and the Messenger sent by The Almighty as nothing more than an impostor and a blasphemer! Then again, the Great Teacher did warn us back then that many in the end-times would go around admitting that he was in fact the Messiah but also that they "will lead many astray"!
In time it will be seen as ironic that a State mandated a territory amounting to just over half of the total area of which its people had occupied far less than one-tenth, then proceeded to drive out the indigenous people, resulting in a vastly expanded stolen area amounting to now over three-quarters of the whole, still were not satisfied - thereafter invading, occupying and driving out large numbers to forcibly build settlements. Failure to pull back to those 1967 borders, which all surrounding States were prepared to accept as part of a peace settlement led to a widening conflict which drew in large nearby powers as they saw the strategic danger of continued Western expansion in their 'backyard'! The greedy grab for the entire land led to a humiliating defeat and ultimately a loss of all the lands!
Faced with a perfect storm of natural disasters - volcanic eruptions, mega-quakes & giant tsunamis, together with the inevitable collapse of its economy and currency (now no longer the world reserve), the sole superpower was then a shadow of its former self - no longer in position to defend its allies. Barely capable of self-defense, it focused solely on closing down its hundreds of overseas bases and bringing home its thousands of troops to assist with the massive rebuilding exercise then required!
This end-time we live in is a time of great upheaval when "the last shall be first and the first, last". While most expect the coming conflagration to end in a decisive victory for those who possess the mightiest weapons, they should not be surprised when things now fail to unfold according to script. The mighty powers of today may be about to again be taught a lesson learned the hard way by both the Pharaohs of Egypt and the mighty King Nebuchadnezzar - namely that "pride goeth before fall"!
The world now readies itself for the spectacle of a country that has attacked no one in over 300 years about to be invaded for non-existent WMD while a favored nearby nation is allowed to harbor a large and very real nuclear arsenal free from UN inspections - one that has actually threatened to use them!
